We have had many conversations, with the Others and more Others. I wonder, Shevek, if you are right.

Maybe we can achieve more here than at home, even if it’s tremendously tedious. Do you know the book by Oliver Sacks, “The Day My Leg Went Away.”? He has an accident while hiking, tears a muscle in his leg and injures a nerve. After surgery, he feels for a while that his leg is not his own, even though he can move it and feels it. That’s how it feels. This world tastes and smells like a real one, but it feels like a foreign leg, I can’t stand safely at the moment.

But be sure of one thing: If I stand with both feet firmly in this world, I will also go my way. Perhaps the saboteurs made a mistake in flushing us into this world.
